Project Description

A 500 MW solar photovoltaic power plant in the province of Benguela, designed to diversify Angola's energy mix and reduce dependence on hydropower. The project covers 1,200 hectares with 1.4 million PV modules, a battery energy storage system, and a 400 kV substation connecting to the national grid via the Catumbela substation. The plant will power approximately 800,000 households and support industrial development in the Lobito Corridor. The project is part of Angola's National Development Plan targeting 70% renewable energy by 2025.
