Project Description

Construction of a new greenfield international airport in Bishoftu, 40 km southeast of Addis Ababa, designed to handle 60 million passengers annually upon full completion. The mega-project includes a 4,000-meter runway capable of handling the Airbus A380, a 580,000 m² passenger terminal, cargo village, aviation fuel farm, and associated access infrastructure. The airport will serve as a new hub for Ethiopian Airlines and relieve congestion at Bole International Airport. Phase 1 (22 million passengers) is approved with land acquisition complete.
