1MW Maziba Mini Hydro Power Plant

Uganda• East AfricaPower & Energy

Project Description

The 1MW Maziba Mini Hydro Power Plant project aims to develop a mini-hydropower facility at Maziba. Mini-hydropower plants are small-scale electricity generation facilities that harness the natural flow of rivers to generate power, typically serving local communities and supplementing the national grid. The Maziba site offers suitable hydrological conditions for mini-hydropower development. This project seeks to increase Uganda's renewable energy generation capacity, support rural electrification efforts, and provide clean, reliable electricity to surrounding communities. The project contributes to Uganda's commitment to expanding electricity access and developing sustainable energy infrastructure under the National Development Plan III.
