Okulacere Small Hydro Power Plant

Uganda• East AfricaPower & Energy

Project Description

The Okulacere Small Hydro Power Plant project aims to develop a small-scale hydropower facility on the Okulacere river in Uganda. Small hydropower projects harness the energy of flowing water to generate electricity without the scale and environmental impact of large dams. Uganda has significant hydropower potential due to its numerous rivers and favorable topography. This project seeks to add renewable energy generation capacity to the national grid, support rural electrification, and contribute to Uganda's goal of increasing electricity access and generation capacity. The project aligns with Uganda's green energy development agenda and the National Development Plan III priorities for energy infrastructure expansion.
