Malawi 2063 Vision - Transforming Our Nation

Malawi• East AfricaNational Strategy & Governance

Project Description

Malawi 2063 (MW2063) is the nation's long-term development blueprint, first published in 2020 by the National Planning Commission. The vision aims to transform Malawi into 'an inclusively wealthy and self-reliant industrialized upper-middle-income country by the year 2063.' The framework is built on three Pillars (Agricultural Productivity and Commercialization, Industrialization, and Urbanization) and seven Enablers (Mindset Change, Human Capital Development, Private Sector Dynamism, Environmental Sustainability, Governance, Public Sector Performance, and Economic Infrastructure including Digital Infrastructure). The vision emphasizes youth-centric development, manufacturing with strong forward and backward linkages to agriculture and mining, world-class urban centers and tourism hubs, and globally competitive economic infrastructure.
